Healthy At Every Size

I recently had my eyes opened to the Healthy At Every Size philosophy. I love it. I feel like I have been a pusher of that for a long time. I have believed that all those I interacted with. I am an example of how your size doesn't indicate health (thank you modern medicine for allowing me to be healthy.) Studies have shown that there is a correlation between weight and health, not a causal relationship (but I will not sit here and blog with studies and references like I am writing a paper.) The point is healthy can be in whatever body each person lives in. I think that as a personal trainer this is important. We are part of that link in the chain that is health. Movement is a huge part of it, if you have ever had moments of inability to move, you will really appreciate that I am not a trainer will tell you to lose weight and that is the only way to health. I will tell you that we can do it and we will take it slow and work you up to where you want to be.

I wish I could make the world see that you can be healthy at every size. I wish every client came to me with a "I want feel good and do activities I enjoy" mindset rather than "I need to lose weight" mindset. I think they are two very different things. I think fitness should be able helping to strengthen your body to do the things you love.
